Genuine athlete portraits for numerous applications

Manufacturers of branded sporting goods for professionals like to promote their products with portrait shots and photo documentaries of athletes they sponsor. These types of photos also appeal to sports magazines, trade journals, and dailies reporting about events concerning athletes they believe will inspire their readers. In each case, professional photographs determine their reception by the readers. The assignment was perfect for our photographer Sebastian Kuhn, himself a former triathlete who knows his way around the industry.

Shots of athletes in locations around the world

On his quest to take the most authentic shots, Sebastian traveled to the athletes’ training locations, their home towns, or to the cities in which competitions were to be held – wherever he found the athletes at their best and where the settings for his portrait shots were most promising. He did this because portraits are all about preserving the subject’s natural demeanor, even in staged situations. This is best achieved when the models feel completely at ease in the environment.
