Outdoor documentary of HafenCity in Hamburg, Germany

Hamburg’s HafenCity comprises an industrial port and modern urban buildings. The contemporary architecture, historic structures, water, and land have blended into an attractive overall picture – documenting it photographically was the goal of the photo documentary created by our photographer Sebastian Kuhn.

Quick glances of eternal moments

The success of photo documentaries such as this one depends on the photographer’s eye and speed: The situation in a port can change entirely in moments and motifs can disappear in a matter of seconds. This is why these eternal pictures are based on snapshots alone because, of course, reproducing moments that have passed is not possible – you could never ask a captain to set his container vessel ten meters back so you could get a better shot.
